Mars Sustainable Solutions is working to deliver restorative and sustainable solutions that have a positive impact on our planet by addressing social, economic and environmental problems in the communities where we operate or source supplies.
Mars Sustainable Solutions currently has 4 areas of focus:
- Farmer Health and Welfare
Developing technologies addressing the challenging reality that over half of cocoa farmers and their families do not have access to clean drinking water - Soil Management
Encouraging sustainable soil management practices, including ecologically-sound composting and sustainable fertilizers
- Tree Health
Nurturing business ventures which use waste products from tree pruning (a practice which has been shown to increase tree health and cocoa yields) to produce artisan paper products
- Mariculture
Assessing new businesses which sustainably support local marine systems in cocoa origin countries
Additionally, we sponsor a unique 10-week Summer Associate Program (SAP) for MBAs and graduate students. SA’s have the opportunity to lead a focused sustainable business project and to operate internationally in developing countries like Indonesia.
